Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
