Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his future following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
