The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a tabletop RPG that explores the series' apocalyptic landscape. The project has been announced, with a funding drive planned to begin in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Launch products will include a beginner's box, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and several premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the United States into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, transforming the city into a battlefield. To preserve law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. This is where the agents come in.

Work on the game has been underway for about several years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to reach a wider audience, specifically in North America. Manufacturing will start right after the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it uses d10s predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and tactical style. Agents use abilities to assemble a handful of dice, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Battles stress positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the source material. Factors like taking cover, elevation, or visibility have a direct impact success chances. This system is designed to reward teamwork and clever tactics over simple statistics.

A Thematic Wound Mechanic

The way health is tracked adds a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At zero health, an operative is downed, but is not knocked out.
  2. They can still move and take limited actions, simulating the last stand common to many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must roll on a injury chart, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group lead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup are expected to be detailed closer to the campaign launch.
