The Latest Casual Game Mode Ignites Intense Discussions Over Bots, Experience Points, and Queue Times

Recently, the game developers introduced a new playlist called Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode mirrors the standard Breakthrough setup but includes a few notable changes:

  • Every squad includes just eight human participants, with the remaining made up of 32 bots.
  • Actions performed by human gamers award full XP, while bot actions provide reduced XP.
  • Just a pair of locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
  • Features like Dogtags, accolades, and career stat updates are disabled.

So essentially, the playlist delivers on its title: it's a laid-back take of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume it's a good idea, as it provides additional choices for players seeking different ways to enjoy the game. But, if video games has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, many BF6 fans are mad.

Community Responses: From Fury to Support

"People want human opponents. Avoid making the mistakes of your rivals," states one reply to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing idea," comments another. At the same time, in community forums, one user notes, "I have no idea where we are headed with this title," while someone else lists all the issues they believe to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We don't need this bot mode."

However, amid the criticism, some gamers sharing how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's enjoyable to practice, real players prevent it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," reads one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are players who actually go outside and don't play this title all the time. Let them strike a balance," adds a different comment. One reply on Twitter clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is great for me," while another applauds the mode for "not being overcompetitive."

Valid Concerns and Player Feedback

All that said, players have valid points to complain about Casual Breakthrough. Some users have pointed out that it could increase wait times even longer for different playlists due to the large amount of options in the game already. Similarly, certain regions already encounter AI-filled matches in the current modes. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a minimum number of real players, even though it primarily centers on combat against bots.

Lastly, a major complaints is that a previous feature was meant to provide full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to remove XP farming from the system. So this new playlist seems like the community compromising halfway, according to forum feedback. A different user labels this mode as the devs "dropping the ball so hard, I experienced so much fun in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur?

If Battlefield Studios has proven anything to date with Battlefield 6, it's that they're paying attention and acting on feedback. Assignments that were overly hard were adjusted very quickly, as did the specific battle pass objectives. It is likely that, should analytics indicates this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they will not hesitate to change it again.
