Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
