This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official conducted a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Annually, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
